Mission & Vision

Mission: The Washington State LGBTQ Commission works to improve the state’s interface with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, and intersex community, identify the needs of its members, and ensuring that there is an effective means of advocating for LGBTQ equity in all aspects of state government.

Vision: As public servants committed to advancing equity and fostering liberation for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people, we embrace humility, compassion, diversity, collaboration, respect, and joy in our work. We pledge to honor public involvement, community accessibility, and to listen and proactively center the needs of the most marginalized members of our community.

LGBTQ Commission October Public Meeting

Interested in hearing about what the LGBTQ Commission is working on? Want to provide a public comment to the LGBTQ Commission? Come to our October public meeting in Spokane, Washington!

On Friday, October 17th from 12-5pm and Saturday October 18th from 9am-12pm, the Washington State LGBTQ Commission will convene for their fifth and last public meeting of 2025. We hope you are able to find some time join us to hear more about Commission work, and we highly encourage 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals around the state to tune in and share public comment with us, in-person or virtually, at 11:30am on Saturday the 18th. Thank you to the Gonzaga University Lincoln LGBTQ Resource Center for supporting this event!

There will be a Zoom option for those looking to participate virtually. Zoom link will be live closer to the meeting date.

LGBTQ+ K-12 Townhall

Join the Washington State LGBTQ+ Commission's Youth Advisory Council for a townhall centered around K-12 education! Come have a snack, share your questions and concerns regarding K-12 education, and hear from a diverse lineup of speakers! This event is sponsored by Spokane PrideOdyssey Youth Movement, and Gonzaga University's Lincoln LGBTQ+ Resource Center.

Washington Rainbow Resource Hub

The Washington State LGBTQ Commission wants to help 2SLGBTQIA+ Washingtonians find the support they need. We are launching the Washington Rainbow Resource Hub, a comprehensive hub meant to help consolidate trusted resources, tools, and information in an accessible way. 

While times are changing quickly for 2SLGBTQIA+ people across the nation, we hope this new website resource provides a quick way to receive news updates, connect with local organizations to find support, and learn about your rights as a 2SLGBTQIA+ Washingtonian.
