Committees

The Commission has 4 established committees to carry out our work. Each committee consists of two or more Commissioners as well as 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies from the community throughout the state, with the exception of the Executive Committee. 

Executive Committee:

The Executive Committee is comprised of the two Co-Chairs, Vice-Chair, and Secretary with the Director serving in an advisory role. The Executive Committee provides overall leadership and guidance and makes executive decisions necessary for the Commission to carry out its duties. Executive Committee elections are conducted during the last public meeting of the year, typically held in October.

Legislative Priorities Committee:

The Legislative Priorities Committee is committed to helping all LGBTQ+ Washingtonians understand their rights and use every available tool to advocate for a Washington that works for everyone. This year, the committee will be paying special attention to bills focused on Data & Privacy, Education, Healthcare, Housing, and Justice. While the vast array of bills affecting LGBTQ+ communities may feel overwhelming, this diversity reflects the endless potential of our collective efforts to build a better Washington for all.

Intergenerational Committee:

The Intergenerational Committee exists to bring together 2SLGBTQIA+ people across generations to build community, foster meaningful connection, and ensure that the lived experiences of seniors, adults, youth, and young people inform the Commission’s work. Our focus is on creating intentional space for shared learning, relationship-building, and honest dialogue across age groups. Through regular, themed conversations, the committee identifies gaps, opportunities, and points of alignment across generations, helping translate intergenerational insight into recommendations that strengthen the Commission’s understanding, priorities, and impact.

Communications and Community Outreach Committee:

The Communications and Community Outreach Committee’s exists to help the Commission communicate clearly, consistently, and with humility across the state. Our focus is on empowering commissioners with shared language, tools and guidance so we can show up confidently and responsibly in our communities. In 2026, our work centers on strengthening alignment, accessibility and accountability in how the Commission listens, communicates and engages with the public and in community.
